Contents Page for Aquinas magazine

This is my contents page for my aquinas magazine.  The things that i like about my first draft is that it has a professional look by being blocked out. This makes it easier for the consumer to read. Another thing that i like about my contents page is the use of autoshapes to split up the page. For example i have used red regtangles with promotions in them, this will grab the attention of the reader and will also create audience participation. Another thing that i like is that i have used a photo montage of different eye shadow designs, this allows the reader to give a preveiw of what they will see.

 

The things that i would improve would be that i would have a picture of the front cover on the contents page. This will corralate the front page with the contents page. Another thing that i would improve is to have captions underneith it to give a description of what the pictures are about.

Aquinas Front Cover

This is my first draft of a front cover. The things i like about my font cover is the way that the text wraps around the cover star and that the features are blocked. I am happy with this because it makes the magazine look professional. Another thing that i am happy with is the use of a pug. This makes the promotion, in this case the price, stand out so the reader can see it. I have also used a continuing house style of red, black and white, this makes the magazine easy to read and also looks professional look.

 

The things that i could improve are to have the page numbers next to the features. I would do this because it will correlate with what on the contents page and allow the reader if they are just picking up the magazine to find the artical easily.

CONTACT SHEET

This is my contact sheet. This shows the options that i could choose for a suitable front cover picture. The ones that i have put with red crosses are not suitable because they are not medium close-ups and therefore would leave to much empty space within the Mise-en-scene. Another reason i have chosen not to have the pictures with the cross is because there background would be to complex to have text over the top of the picture.

The reason that i have ticked the ones that i have is because there backgrouds are simple yet effective and it would be possible to have text over them and it be easy to read. Another reason that i chosen to tick these photos is because there lighting is suitable and natural enough to be presented on a front cover. They also use a direct form of address to allow it to grab the consmers attention. The pictures that i think are the best are the 1st, 3rd and 4th from the top line. The reason i have chose the 1st one is becuase it have a simple background which will make it easier to put text around it, also it used the rule of thirds and the eyes are between the top intersections. The reason i have chosen the 3rd image is because the lighting is suitable by having a natural light it creates a good picture.

PIE CHART'S

 

 

 By looking at my results, i can see that in the music catagory, the most popular music was rock and pop/chart based music. Also on social networking sites i have noticed that facebook and twitter are the most popular. In both my spare time and hobbies/part time jobs catagory, sport seems to be the most popular choice throughout. In my film catagory the top genre of film was comody and in my TV pie chart there seems to be to much of a wide variety to determine a most popular. For my clothing store catagory it seems to be topshop that is the most popular catagory. Italian and chinese food seems to be the most popular and capital and radio 1 are the most popular radio stations. For my magazine pie chart i have concluded that alot of people don't seem to read magazines but the next popular choice would be look.

 

For my 3 features i will have:

FEATURE 1: I will be doing a reveiw of a the new comedy film were the millers. I will do this becuase it relates to what the target audience will want to see.

FEATURE 2: I will be doing a compotition to win training with the sport star of their choice. The reason i will do this is because it involves audience participation and can also be used an a promotional device for the magazine in which that people will no that it gives away good prizes.

FEATURE 3: In this feature i will be looking at how social networking sites such as facbook and twitter can keep links between the comsumer and college. The reason i will be doing this is it creates a symbiotic relationship, which means it's incorperating a different media platform within the magazine.
