Comparison for double page spread

One thing that is similar is that i have one image on one page with the stars on it. I have done this because it allows the reader to see the stars full star, so the reader can see the body language or facial expressions, so the body language is a fighting pose. The connotations of doing this are being ready to take on anything. Another thing that i have done is to have a funny caption next to the picture. I have done to give the reader humour and make the mood lighter. I have included the by-line down the side of the page. This is a important convention because the reader might be interested in who has written the article and what they may have written in the past.

I have used a direct quote from the article and put it in bigger writing like the other double page spread. The reason i have done this is it breaks up the article and also sticks out to the reader what will be in the article. Like the other double page spread, i have used a stand-by to introduce the article to give the reader a preview of what the article will be about.

Comparison of contents page for music magazine

One thing that i have done that is the same as the contents for Kerrang! is i have put everything is a blocked style, i have done this to make my magazine look professional and also easy to read. I have also made the house style correlate with the front cover. I have done this to make it look professional and so there isn't a colour overload. Another thing that i have done is to have the masthead at the top left of the Mise-en-Scene. The reason i have done because it will be the first thing that people will read on the page. Like Kerrang! i have used a main image as well as having two secondary images. I have done this to give the reader a preview of what's in the magazine and i have used page numbers and captions so the reader knows where in magazine that feature is.

Down the left hand side of the Mise-en-Scene i have all the page number and what's in the magazine. This is an important convention because the reader needs to know where the features are in the magazine. Like Kerrang! I have used sub-headings in a different size; i have done this so that the text is broken up so that it's easier to read. I have included an editor’s letter like Kerrang!. I have done this because it makes it seem more personal and invites you into the magazine. I have also included a picture and a different font that resembles handwriting; this is to add to the personal touch to it.

Comparison for music magazine front cover

I will be looking at a copy of NME and looking at the comparisons it has with my magazine front cover. One thing that i have done in my magazine is have the masthead in the top left of the magazine like NME has in a bold font and the biggest writing on the page. The reason that i have done this is because it will be the first thing that the audience will read. I have used an acronym to shortened the name of my magazine like NME. I have done this to make the name short and snappy so that the consumer can remember the name easily. Another similarity is i have used a pug. The reason that i have used this is because it makes the cover feature stick out to the audience. I also have a variety of cover features on my font cover like NME. The reason that i have done this is because it allows the audience to read these features and then decide if they would want to buy it.
The picture that i have used takes the whole of the mise-en-scene and is a medium close up, i have chosen this kind of shot because you are able to see facial expressions and the top half of their body language clearly. The facial expressions on the NME cover is non-smiling, straight faced, as well as the body language being simple and just stood up. I have made my cover stars do the same thing because it links to the iconography of alternative/indie music. To introduce the cover star, i have included a pull quote; the reason that i have done this is to give the reader a basis of what the article is about. I then have the artists name in a different colour and also bigger than the other two pieces of text like the NME cover. I have done this to highlight who the main feature is about.
I have used a banner along the bottom of the page like NME have done at the top. I have done this because it gives an extra cover feature, but it stands out more because it's a black banner on white writing. This is to break up the page in a professional way so it doesn't look messy. I have also used all the codes and conventions, such as the barcode, issue number, price and date. The reason i have put these in is because it's what the audience expects to see.
